Our former pastor, Dr. Donovan Jenkins was born on August 6, 1959 to Charles Jenkins, Jr. and Helen Jenkins. He is a descendant of the founder of Absanie Baptist, Rev. Obed Jenkins. Dr. Jenkins grew up in the city of Carrington. He attended school in the Carrington Joint Union High School District. He graduated from Kovach University in 1985 with several degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Music, a Masters of Art in Religious History, and a Doctorate of Divinity. Dr. Jenkins was employed as a professor of Gospel Music at the Carrington Music Conservatory from 1985 through 1995. Dr. Jenkins was appointed the pastor of Absanie Baptist Church in 1987. He stepped down as pastor of Absanie Baptist Church in 2006 to become the full-time president of the Maddocha Baptist Churches Association. He is still a member of the church. Dr. Jenkins is married to Sis. Becky Lancaster-Jenkins. They have five children (all boys), Donovan Keven (our current pastor) and quadruplet boys, David, Saul, Solomon, and Lemuel. Sis. Jenkins serves as a professor at the Carrington Music Conservatory. She has done so since 1983. |
